I just read a few articles about wikis and can definitely see the advantages and disadvantages to using them. The advantages that a wiki provides is that it is an easy way to facilitate student communication and encourage students to work collaboratively. Also, theoretically it could save class time if students could work on group projects at home using this technology. As a teacher a benefit is definitely that I would be able to easily assess each students contribution to a group project. While I do think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages I would be concerned about shy students not wanting their contributions to be public.
